Elmsford, N.Y.-based AFP Imaging Corporation has completed the acquisition of Quantitative Radiology (QR) of Verona, Italy. QR has been the global leader in developing, manufacturing and distributing 3D digital x-ray imaging technology. QR’s core product NewTom is a specialized x-ray system in that reconstructs the 3D radiographic images from the captured data. AFP has been QR’s exclusive distributor for North America for the past year.


Digisonics installed a DigiView network at Northwest Arkansas Heart & Vascular in Fayetteville, Ark., which includes multiple DigiNet Pro licenses for full web-based access capabilities to the entire cardiovascular image management and reporting system. Other recent installations include Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Idaho, that installed the company’s DigiView Image Management and Reporting System for its echo lab. Great Lakes Heart and Vascular in St. Joseph, Mich., installed the DigiNet Pro and CRS-Net for full web-based access to their cardiovascular reporting system.
 

U.K.-based software developer Meridian Technique has established a new distribution agreement for its OrthoView ‘s orthopaedic digital planning and templating systems in France via EDL (Edition et Développement de Logiciels). EDL in March sold the first OrthoView system to the Centre Hospitalier Rodez, in the south of France. EDL is a supplier of RIS systems to the radiology market, initially to public hospitals, including University Hospitals, and more recently to the private sector as well.


Siemens Medical Solutions this week is hosting its fourth annual CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry) symposium hosting nearly 175 users of its CPOE platform. The event is intended to promote patient safety and enable best practices sharing among leading healthcare facilities and CPOE users, including physician leaders, nurse clinicians and informaticists, pharmacists and CIOs. The two-day educational symposium features interactive discussions with physician and nurse CPOE users from institutions such as Holy Redeemer Health System in Huntingdon Valley, Pa., Lifespan in R.I., Alegent Health in Omaha, Neb., and The Chester County Hospital in West Chester, Pa.

"Emerging technology holds great promise for enhancing the delivery of healthcare," said Michael R. Cohen, RPh, MS, ScD, Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP), a symposium keynote speaker. "Prescription writing is perhaps the most important paper transaction remaining in our increasingly digital society, and electronic prescribing tools can minimize medication errors related to handwriting."


TeraRecon has promoted Jeffrey Sorenson to vice president of Aquarius sales, U.S. and Canada. Sorenson joined TeraRecon as Aquarius Zone sales manager for the midwest zone in September 2004. From there, he was promoted to director of Aquarius sales and business development, U.S. and Canada in January 2006, taking responsibility for management of the whole Aquarius sales team.
