Continua cozies up to Google, Dossia for personal health ecosystem
The Continua Health Alliance, a provider of interoperable healthcare products and solutions, has added Dossia and Google to its membership, and welcomed Charles Parker as its new executive director.
Additionally, the company said that Continua member companies will demonstrate interoperability among pre-certified products and services on Oct. 27 at the Partners Center for Connected Health Fifth Annual Connected Health Symposium in Boston. The demos will show how sharing data across a variety of environments can help consumers and professionals better manage personal health and wellness and drive business results.
Both Dossia and Google are focused on creating richer consumer healthcare experiences using tools and applications that allow secure information storage and retrieval. Each will help ensure that current and future personal health record/personal health system applications can be used across Continua-certified devices, the Portland, Ore.-based company said.
Parker has joined Continua as executive director and starting in January 2009, and will work with the organization’s board of directors to formulate new initiatives for growth. A healthcare professional with more than 20 years of experience in the industry, the company said that Parker was most recently the chief technology officer and senior vice president of business development and marketing at Masspro.
