Virtual Radiologic nets telerad patent approval

Teleradiology services provider Virtual Radiologic has received approval of a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for several applications.

According to the company, the patent, titled “Multiple Resource Planning System,” recognizes the rules-based technology that it uses to receive orders over the internet and assign them to radiologists based on a set of business and clinical rules, including subspecialty training, licensing, credentialing, workload, hospital preferences and other customized parameters.

In addition, Virtual Radiologic said the patent will cover its order forecasting and radiologist scheduling applications.
