Miller to advise i2 Initiative

Holly Miller, MD, MBA, chief medical officer of MedAllies and vice chair of the HIMSS board of directors, will serve on the advisory board for the Investing in Innovations (i2) Initiative, an Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information (ONC) program designed to spur innovations in health IT.

The program, part of the America Competes Reauthorization Act of 2010, holds competitions and offers prizes to accelerate development of solutions to pressing health IT challenges. The advisory board will help identify challenges and solutions for reward.

MedAllies, a Fishkill, N.Y.-based company, leverages EHR implementations to facilitate office practice efficiencies and disease management. It helped create the virtual integration necessary for health information exchange (HIE) in a community that lacks a large integrated delivery network. Together with Taconic Health Information Network and Community and Taconic IPA, MedAllies is part of the Hudson Valley Initiative, an effort to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare by leveraging health IT, physician practice transformation and value-based purchasing.
