AI-enabled platform that simplifies MRI reports expands into other modalities
Read My MRI—a company that rewrites imaging reports to make them more understandable for patients—is expanding its reach beyond MRI reports.
The company announced their extended services Monday, sharing that they now plan to offer interpretations of CT scans, PET scans, Ultrasounds and X-rays. Read My MRI offers a direct-to-patient platform that harnesses artificial intelligence techniques to give simplified summaries of radiology reports, offer input on how patients’ image findings could correlate with their symptoms, and provide users with a list of questions they can take to their providers during follow-up visits.
This expansion comes alongside a growing trend of patients being given near immediate access to their imaging and radiology reports. Leaders with the company are hopeful that their platform can ease some of patients’ anxieties related to trying to interpret confusing medical jargon prior to their follow-up.
"Medical imaging is one of the most critical—yet least understood—aspects of healthcare today," Jeff Langmaid, founder of Read My MRI, said in the announcement. "By expanding our capabilities beyond MRI to include CT, PET, Ultrasound, and X-ray reports, we're giving millions more patients the clarity they deserve. This is a critical step toward demystifying healthcare and bridging the communication gap between doctors and patients."
Read My MRI uses machine learning and natural language processing to break down complex medical terminology. Now that the services have been expanded, patients can submit almost any of their radiology reports to the platform and have their results within minutes, 24 hours max. The website indicates that it costs $99 per report.
It is important to note that patients who utilize the service will not have a radiologist reviewing their report, but rather an artificial intelligence application.
