New AI-powered platform offers 24/7 access to radiologists, on-demand pay
A new artificial intelligence-enabled platform will allow radiologists to work from wherever they want, whenever they choose, and be paid for their interpretations nearly instantly.
Civie—a healthcare technology and services company—announced the official launch of its RadPod platform on Tuesday, with the product designed to address some of the “brutal challenges” radiologists have faced over the past couple of decades.
“Radiologists don't want to be bound by shifts and schedules, or hindered by inefficiencies like technology gaps and unclear requirements from referring physicians,” Dhruv Chopra, CEO of Civie, said in the announcement. “By bringing together our decades of radiology experience, Civie delivers what radiologists have been craving: a state-of-the-art solution that allows them to read medical scans at will and on their terms.”
RadPod uses AI to remove the clerical burdens that take radiologists away from interpretations. It curates personalized work lists and prioritizes reads for radiologists based on their preferences. Its voice recognition system and web-based access allow providers to conduct their interpretations from anywhere at any time, and their 1099 payment model gives radiologists instant access to earnings.
“Our radiologists earn some of the highest rates in the industry, with the freedom to access their earnings whenever they choose. Whether it’s end of day or instantly after a read, funds are delivered quickly—because they have earned it. The ability to read from home, get paid on time, and get paid based on productivity are all factors that resonate strongly with radiologists today,” said Chopra. “Looking at radiology in a new way and working collaboratively to address the real needs of radiologists has been needed for a long time in this industry. It has been a dream to bring this to life, and I truly believe this will be amongst the biggest game-changers ever to hit the radiology space.”
Radiologists looking to take advantage of RadPod’s offerings must first sign up and be verified to participate in the platform’s network. Once verified, physicians can browse available reads and access cases on demand. Interpretations are entered into the platform’s AI-enabled PACS system, and payments become available upon report acceptance.
The solution is available to hospitals, outpatient imaging centers and physician offices and provides either on-site or remote services in all subspecialties 24/7. So far, eight hospitals in Illinois have deployed RadPod, and Civie says three more states are in the process of integrating it into their workflows.
