Body found in New Orleans believed to be missing radiologist

A deceased body believed to be that of a radiologist who went missing last week has been found in New Orleans.

News outlets local to the matter are reporting that a body found on North Rendon Street and Iberville Street is radiologist Paul Rodrigue, MD. Rodrigue went missing last week, and was last seen on Saturday, March 29, in the Mid-City area, NOPD public information officer Karen Boudrie said Friday.

Although no official reports have been released, police believe the death may be due to an overdose. The coroner’s office has not officially released the identity of the body and maintain that the cause of death remains under investigation.

According to the Mid City Security District website, Rodrigue arrived at the Bayou Beer Garden around 5:30 p.m. Phone records indicate he made two phone calls—one to each of his parents—later that night around 9:50 p.m. Those calls lasted around one minute each.

That same flyer indicated that Rodrigue may have had a history of substance use, though those claims have not been publicly substantiated.

Rodrigue worked at the New Orleans Veterans Administration Medical Center as a nuclear medicine and cardiothoracic radiologist.

This is a developing story.
