California IDN selects InterSystems for info sharing

MemorialCare Health System has selected InterSystems HealthShare as its strategic informatics platform to enable health information sharing by integrated delivery networks (IDNs). MemorialCare is a nonprofit IDN that includes six hospitals and a medical foundation in Southern California.

For several years, integration of physician practices has been a strategic focus at MemorialCare. The health system has implemented the Epic EHR, which is built on the InterSystems Cache database system, according to Senior Vice President and CIO, Scott Joslyn.

MemorialCare is completing phase one of its interdepartmental integration initiative. "As we finalize this first phase, we are preparing to begin phase two," Joslyn said. Future plans call for examining HealthShare features such as the embedded iKnow technology that makes it possible to analyze previously inaccessible unstructured data.
