The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) has installed three high powered MRI systems from Siemens Medical Solutions. Using the combination of the three units side-by-side in the hospital’s MR Suite within the Devon Imaging Center is a first for any facility in the United States, the hospital said. The systems include the MAGNETOM ESPREE, MAGNETOM AVANTO, and the MAGNETOM TRIO.
Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. today announced the installation of its Infinix DP-i/FD2 at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, near Seattle, and Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. The hospitals are the first to install the Infinix DP-i/FD2, Toshiba’s latest generation of vascular imaging technology, which was introduced in March.
Varian Medical Systems has been selected to supply several hospitals with treatment machines and simulators in the latest wave of the U.K. government's capital investment program for upgrading the quality of cancer treatments in the nation's hospitals. The Clinac iX series accelerators will be installed at radiotherapy centers in Royal Free (London), Ipswich and Maidstone in Wave 9 of the Cancer Plan. These machines will be equipped with the On-Board Imager accessory to enable the hospitals to carry out more targeted treatments. The company also will be equipping a new radiotherapy center at Chelmsford in Essex with a complete suite including a Clinac iX, the ARIA information and image management system and Eclipse treatment planning software. Also as part of Wave 9, Varian's Acuity X-ray imaging device will be installed at centers in Mount Vernon (London), Exeter, Carlisle, Lincoln and Stoke.

Dynamic Imaging has announced that it has been selected by Universal Health Services (UHS) to implement IntegradWeb PACS across UHS’ acute-care hospital enterprise. So far, installations have been completed at two UHS institutions: Lancaster Community Hospital in Lancaster, Calif., and Fort Duncan Medical Center in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Eclipsys Corp. announced that North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System in New York will implement the Sunrise Clinical Manager as part of a multi-year agreement. The deal includes the fully integrated modules Sunrise Acute Care, Sunrise Emergency Care, Sunrise Ambulatory Care, Sunrise Pharmacy and Knowledge-Based Medication Administration.

The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center recently became the world's largest installation of Siemens Medical Solution’s Symbia SPECT-CT and SPECT. The facility is now utilizing five Symbia T6 systems with TruePoint SPECT-CT technology, as well as four Siemens Symbia S SPECT-only systems. All seven systems were installed in M.D.Anderson's Ambulatory Clinical Building, a freestanding outpatient treatment center that opened in January 2005.
