The newly formed Multispecialty Early Radiologic Career Coalition is appealing the ABR to either administer tests virtually—as other specialty boards are doing during the pandemic—or at local testing centers around the country. 

More than a dozen doctors from all corners of the country contributed to the document, which represents the official position of the American College of Radiology. 

SIIM said the decision was influenced by both continued travel restrictions among its members and a desire to quell the spread of COVID-19.

The ARRS also presented Jonathan S. Lewin, MD, with the Gold Medal for 2019 during its annual meeting in Honolulu.

Norman E. Sharpless, MD, director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) since October 2017, has been announced as the new acting commissioner of the FDA. Sharpless replaces Scott Gottlieb, MD, who unexpectedly resigned from the position on March 5.
