Nebraska man attempts to escape police custody during MRI
An Omaha man attempted to escape police and hospital staff while undergoing an MRI at Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy. He was no stranger to such incidents: the previous day, he had led police on a chase throughout west Omaha.
According to coverage from 6News WOWT, the original chase began when officers tried to intercept a gray Jeep Cherokee driven by Cameron Craddock and another suspect. The Jeep fled the scene. A police helicopter later located the vehicle, and police say they deployed stop sticks, causing the Jeep to lose a tire. Both suspects were arrested when their ride came to a halt in a parking lot. Though Craddock attempted to flee, he was apprehended by police.
Craddock was in policy custody after that incident when he complained of pain, ultimately being taken to the hospital the following day. He did not present with any visible injuries, but it was decided that he should undergo an MRI. When Craddock attempted to forcibly escape, he was subdued by police who deployed a taser to take him back into custody.
One police officer experienced a minor injury during the incident; Craddock did not suffer any injuries.
Craddock now faces several pending charges in addition to having two outstanding felony warrants.
