Siemens scores U.K. CT order
Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, U.K., will install Siemens Healthcare's Somatom Definition Flash CT system later in the year.
The Definition Flash is an updated dual-source CT, which provides scanning speeds of 430mm/s with a temporal resolution of 75ms. Siemens said that its Definition Flash can also perform a scan of the entire heart in just 250 milliseconds.
The company said that its Definition Flash will replace a seven-year-old four-slice Siemens system and will image patients alongside three other Siemens CT machines. Each system in the department is used for a range of imaging studies, including neurology and whole-body scanning.
In 2006, Addenbrooke's, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, had 1,087 beds, 5,400 members of staff. It treated approximately 60,000 visits to the accident and emergency department, 55,000 inpatients stays and 370,000 outpatient clinic visits.
