S.C. hospital deploys Medhost's EDIS

Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort, S.C., has deployed Medhost’s Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) to assist evaluation and management (E&M) coding and IV infusion charges.

Beaufort Memorial is able to determine E&M levels because Medhost’s charge capture calculates charges as clinicians document care, helping to ensure the hospital is reimbursed according to the level of care provided, the company stated.

In addition, Beaufort’s nurses leverage Medhost’s medication documentation to record IV Infusion “start” and “stop” times while the EDIS utilizes Medhost’s electronic charting to eliminate dictation.

The hospital is allocating revenue generated by Medhost’s EDIS to fund its Meditech 6.0 upgrade and hospital-wide computerized physician order entry deployments, according Medhost, based in Addison, Texas.
