IBM teams with Russian hospitals to digitize medical information
Multiple Russian hospitals have switched from paper-based medical systems to an EMR developed by IBM and Complex Medical Information Systems (C-MIS), enabling clinicians to share information and access tests and lab results.
The C-MIS EMR system, built on the IBM Lotus Notes Domino platform, was first implemented at the Municipal S.Z. Fisher Hospital No. 1 in Volzhsky in the Volgograd region of Russia, stated IBM, based in Armonk, N.Y. Similar projects are now under way at public hospitals in Leningrad, Kirov, Pskov and Vladimir regions, Republics of Khakassia and Udmurtia, Perm Territory and Moscow, the company added.
In addition to digitizing and providing access to electronic patient records, the system helps automate business processes such as scheduling and automating temporary disability registrations.
