Abbott’s David Pacitti to lead Siemens North America

Siemens has tapped a sales, marketing and operations exec from Abbott Vascular to head its North America business.

David Pacitti, who has been with Abbott since 2006, will settle into his Siemens HQ digs in Malvern, Pa., on Oct. 19, according to a news release.

He will succeed Gregory Sorensen, MD, the former Massachusetts General neuroradiologist who has served as president and CEO of Siemens Healthcare North America since 2011.

Siemens did not state the reason for Sorensen’s departure.

Pacitti will oversee business ops in both the U.S. and Canada across Siemens’s full healthcare portfolio. This encompasses medical imaging, lab diagnostics, therapy solutions and related services.

Prior to his time at Abbott, he worked for Guidant Corp.

Pacitti holds a bachelor’s degree in science and business from Villanova University, where he is a member of the school’s football hall of fame, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Pacitti is expected to report to Dr. Bernd Montag, global CEO of Siemens Healthcare in Erlangen, Germany.
