Agfa installs its first North America RIS

Agfa Healthcare has completed the installation of its first RIS (radiology information system) in North America.

Atlantic Health Science Corp. in New Brunswick, Canada, installed Agfa's RIS. The multi-facility, regional health authority includes 12 hospitals and health centers, serving a regional population of 175,000.

The Agfa RIS conducts enterprise-wide multi-resource scheduling, manages clinical history information, creates study orders, and tracks and bills components for healthcare reimbursements.

In related news, Agfa and the Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) announce the completion of an enterprise wide RIS/PACS integration project. The project included the integration of Agfa's PACS with a third party RIS system delivered by Artefact.

CHUM is a renowned Canadian healthcare institution and university teaching hospital that includes three leading Montreal hospitals that conduct more than 375,000 imaging exams annually.
