Agfa HealthCare announced that the AZ Monica acute care hospital in Antwerp, Belgium, has inked a deal to install ORBIS, Agfa HealthCare’s comprehensive hospital and clinical IT system. The ORBIS solution will manage the entire patient flow through all departments at AZ Monica’s two hospital sites in Antwerp. The contract marks the first commercial implementation of ORBIS in Belgium. The AZ Monica hospital holds 477 beds distributed over two locations in the city and provides a comprehensive range of health services. Its 786 employees and 175 doctors treat approximately 18,000 inpatients and 40,000 outpatients each year.
Agfa has also netted sales for its IMPAX PACS and other systems at a number of facilities across the country. The facilities and systems to be installed include Barberton Citizens Hospital, Barberton, Ohio — IMPAX PACS, CR, and DRYSTAR hardcopy imagers; Cobre Valley Community Hospital, Global, Ariz. PACS and CR digitizers; Lower Keys Medical Center, Key West, Fla. – PACS and CR digitizers; Audrain Medical Center, Mexico, Mo. – PACS, IMPAX RIS, CR, and DRYSTAR hardcopy imagers; Radiology Consultants of Mid America, O’Fallon, Ill. – PACS and RIS for imaging centers; and Valley Medical Center, Apple Valley, Calif. – PACS and RIS.
Barco’s Coronis line of diagnostic display systems has been selected by the Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. As part of its Philips PACS implementation, the hospital recently installed a combination of grayscale and high-luminance color display systems for use with several radiology modalities.
Eclipsys announced that University Hospitals, Cleveland, Ohio, has contracted for Sunrise Clinical Manager and its fully integrated modules, including Sunrise Acute Care, Sunrise Ambulatory Care, Sunrise Emergency Care, Sunrise Critical Care, Sunrise Pharmacy, and Knowledge-Based Charting.
Eastman Kodak Health Group has inked a multimillion-dollar order with Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, Tenn., for its digital medical image capture and information management systems and its Business Diagnostics Services. The systems ordered include KODAK CARESTREAM PACS and CARESTREAM Enterprise Information Management.
GE Healthcare announced that Fairview Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic Health System partner, will be the first healthcare organization to implement GE Centricity Perinatal with AirStrip OB, an exclusive technology by MP4 Solutions that allows obstetricians to use their PDAs (personal digital assistants) or Smart Phones to remotely access fetal heart tracings, maternal contraction patterns, and other critical, virtual-real-time data from labor and delivery units. Electronic fetal heart rate monitoring is used to assess fetal wellbeing during labor and can help improve diagnostic accuracy of fetal compromise.
Imaging Dynamics Company Ltd. announced installs of its DR Xplorer and receipt of several new orders. The first installation has successfully been completed at Kadikoy VatanHospital, which is a part of the Universal Hospital Group that includes more than 43 hospitals in Turkey. And in South Africa, the company has successfully completed a multiple three-unit installation at Gold Fields Limited. Additionally, IDC has taken a first Xplorer 1600 order in Pakistan, an Xplorer 1600 order in Qatar, a multiple system Xplorer 1600 and Xplorer 2200 order in Denmark, and a second Xplorer 1600 DR order in India with the Apollo Hospital Group, Bangalore.
Kootenai Medical Center, which serves 10 north Idaho counties and parts of western Montana, has selected IBM to upgrade its wireless physician information systems. IBM, who has successfully completed a series of upgrades to IBM Systems x and BladeCenter servers, IBM System Storage servers and tape drives, and Lenovo PCs and monitors. IBM also implemented a network hardware monitoring system and e-mail virus intrusion detection system that safeguards important health data.
peerVue LLC announced that Montefiore Medical Center in New York City has purchased a caseVue, a digital teaching file and research system to be integrated with Montefiore’s GE Centricity PACS and GE RIS solutions.
