Eclipsys updates ambulatory EMR/PM software
Eclipsys has unveiled a new version of its EMR/practice management (PM) software, PeakPractice, featuring functionality for the clinical and financial needs of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs).
New functionality in the .Net-based EMR/practice management solution features an enhanced supply chain module that supports creation of a single solution that automates inventory supply management, clinical documentation and billing processes, according to the Atlanta-based company.
PeakPractice automates perioperative admissions, charting/documentation, physician preference of equipment and surgical supplies by procedure, as well as supply chain management, Eclipsys said. In addition, functionality supports electronically filing for both professional (HCFA 1500) and facility (UB04) billing. Integration capabilities with the physician office EMR database also enable physicians utilizing an ASC for outpatient surgeries to gain single charting capabilities to avoid recreating the patient record.
As an integrated component of the PeakPractice EMR/PM software, the Eclipsys PeakPractice SC [supply chain] management module is designed to track inventory by determining which supplies are used with each scheduled procedure and passing that information on to the practice management system for billing, Eclipsys said. The capabilities, plus built-in vendor management features, help practices to maintain the right balance of supplies.
