Geisinger adopts RelayHealth's patient-payor tool

Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System is implementing health IT company RelayHealth's RevRunner to improve patients' understanding of their health insurance coverage.

According to the Atlanta-based RelayHealth, Geisinger chose the RevRunner financial clearance services because it uses multiple means to verify the most current and complete data on a patient's coverage, copayments, coinsurance and deductibles. RevRunner will update Geisinger's verification process by providing unlimited eligibility checks from the scheduling of services through discharge and final billing to verify payor and patient financial responsibilities, according to the company.

RevRunner gives outlying Geisinger practice sites that are not connected online with its central business office a means of verifying insurance eligibility as often as necessary, stated RelayHealth.
