Western Norway Regional Health Authority has contracted Agfa HealthCare, along with partner eCare, to integrate patient radiology information from 15 private and public hospitals in the region, which together perform some 800,000 radiology examinations per year. The Agfa system will allow radiologists in the region to order diagnostic services from remote hospitals (RIS to RIS) and receive the reports in their local RIS. They will also be able to access historical patient information such as existing RIS orders and reports and related PACS images. The patient radiology records that accompany the images will be made available via InfoBroker, developed by Stockholm-based eCare.


St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital (SLCH) in New York will implement Dynamic Imaging’s IntegradWeb PACS. SLCH’s multiple locations share a common MEDITECH architecture platform that the PACS will integrate with for RIS messaging and EMR access.


InnerWireless Inc. announced that Edward Hospital and Health Services will install InnerWireless’ Medical-grade Wireless Utility into four of its facilities throughout Illinois, including the system’s main campus, Edward Hospital.


The Institut Català de la Salut (ICS) in Barcelona, Spain has entered into a 20 million euro (around $51 million USD), 4-year agreement with IBM in an effort to modernise the healthcare information systems at 8 Catalonian hospitals. The agreement with IBM calls for a new design of all the steps needed to offer clinical treatment to a patient and is core to the transformation of the region’s entire healthcare system. IBM is also working in the design and implementation of a new management model for all financial and economic management processes as well as the supply chain and logistics.


In other Edward Hospital & Health Services related news, MEDSEEK announced today that the organization has selected its e-health platform to develop its consumer, patient, physician and employee portals. The three-year agreement for the 278-bed facility will integrate all four portals into an enterprise-wide solution that will enhance workflow efficiencies along the entire healthcare continuum.


Four southern hospitals have installed NovaRad Corp.’s NovaPACS, including an Attentus Healthcare hospital, 114-bed Scott County Hospital, Oneida, Tenn. and three hospitals in the LifePoint Hospitals, Inc. network:

IASIS HealthCare and RemedyMD Inc announced that IASIS has selected its RemedyMD’s hosted BariEHR electronic health record (EHR) system for all of its bariatric surgery practices at ten regional medical centers.


La Roche-sur-Yon Hospital, a leading French cancer center, is equipping itself to offer a larger number of patients more advanced radiotherapy treatments using new devices and software from Varian Medical Systems. The modern treatment systems will enable to better serve cancer patients among the 500,000 people who live in the region. Three Varian Clinac linear accelerators equipped with the latest devices for intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) are being installed at the hospital over a seven-month period.
