Medsphere implements EHR at rural Utah hospital

Medsphere Systems has implemented OpenVista, the company’s EHR, at the Blue Mountain Hospital in Blanding, Utah.

According to Medsphere, the product's open-source technology enables it to tailor an EHR to the specific needs of a rural health provider facility like Blue Mountain, which offers services to residents of the Four Corners region covering sections of Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. OpenVista gave clinicians at Blue Mountain access to computerized physician order entry (CPOE) and clinical documentation functionality, as well as IT support for laboratory, radiology, pharmacy and nutrition services.

Blue Mountain Hospital is an 11-bed hospital, and contains a operating suite with two operating rooms, an emergency department, three labor delivery rooms, a state-of-the-art diagnostic center, renal dialysis, clinics, a pharmacy, and physical therapy. The center also has a Native American Traditional Medicine Center.
