Radiology TV: Coming to an imaging center near you

Radiology providers may soon be able to educate their patients while in the waiting room with the recent launch of Radiology TV, a subscription-based video content service for medical imaging centers, according to press release published April 10.

Jim Koehler, CEO of Radiology TV, explained that televisions in imaging center waiting rooms tuned to standard daytime programming are a "missed opportunity" to educate patients about health screenings, treatments and minimally invasive procedures and services.

"This is a missed opportunity, since the public—even those who visit imaging centers—are generally unaware of all the potentially life-saving and life-enhancing services that are available from radiologists," Koehler said in a prepared statement.

The service, dubbed "Rad TV,” has a simple plug-and-play setup with a box the size of a smart phone. Imaging providers may also choose from a myriad of available educational imaging videos to create their own "customized channel", with the option to refresh their content monthly with newly available videos and their own promotional video content, according to the press release.

The cost for the service is a minimum of $299 per month, per waiting room, according to the Rad TV website. The service is available for hospitals, health networks, independent diagnostic testing facilities, women’s centers and other imaging facilities.
