Saarland University adopting Sectra Education Portal to enhance medical learning

Medical imaging IT and cybersecurity company Sectra has partnered with the Saarland University to support the education of medical students. The university will adopt the Sectra Education Platform, which supports self-directed study remotely, providing students access to real-world clinical research from across the globe, along with relevant learning modules.

The education portal is cloud-based and accessible from any device to facilitate on-demand learning. According to a statement, it is used in over 60 countries and includes a large number of anonymized medical cases and images that have been collected in collaboration with Sectra's customers. Teaching modules cover anatomy, histopathology, radiology, traumatology, orthopedics, oncology, surgery and other specialties. Further, the portal allows new materials to be uploaded for instructors at Saarland to customize and craft their own courses.

Saarland’s University Hospital, which is in Homburg, Germany, will also integrate its systems into the portal for training radiology techs and medical assistants in a patient care setting.

This isn't the first time an academic institution in healthcare has relied on Sectra. The company
made news last year for its work with Vanderbilt Health, where Sectra supports patient care and ongoing research through imaging data management.
