A research team compiled of mathematicians, clinicians and imaging technicians from the University of Southampton in the U.K. recently developed a computational method to analyze x-ray images of the lungs for overall function and presence of fatal diseases.

The U.S. leads 22 comparable countries in MRI price, availability and use, according to a data report published by the Kaiser Family Foundation. The report was recently presented at a forum held by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Peterson Center on Healthcare in Washington, D.C.

Machine learning tool IDs emerging bacteria before causing outbreak

Using genomic sequencing to identify mutations in emerging strains of bacteria responsible for or at-risk of causing an outbreak is time consuming and labor-intensive. However, researchers have recently developed a new machine learning tool that can speed up the process.
