New Zealand facility chooses Eletka radiotherapy technology

Auckland Radiation Oncology Centre in Auckland, New Zealand, has installed radiotherapy technology from oncology technology provider Elekta, the Elekta VMAT system.

According to the Stockholm-based company, the center has treated its first patient with the system, a prostate cancer patient using a 100-second arc of radiation, totaling 20 minutes of treatment time from pretreatment imaging to post-treatment delivery.

The center—which treats approximately 20 prostate cancer patients daily—has begun treating eight additional patients with the system and two more also are slated to begin treatment, said Elekta.
