An overview for the coming January 2023 mandate to use clinical decision support for all advanced imaging orders.

Lisa Mead, PSO executive director, Strategic Radiology, spoke at the Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) 2022 meeting on radiology practices being prepared for the January 2023 deadline to have appropriate use criteria clinical decision support (AUC/CDS) software operational. 

RBMA’s 2022 Compensation Survey provided insights and benchmarks for executive and marketing leadership of member radiology groups.

Numerous medical imaging societies, including the ACR, signed onto a letter dated Feb. 25 that was sent to members of Congress requesting collaboration on reforms to the Medicare physician payment system.

Absent congressional action, the American College of Radiology said such reductions would have threatened access to imaging and deepened disparities. 

“A pandemic is not the time to be cutting access to doctors for patients on Medicare,” said Rep. Kim Schrier, MD, D-Wash. 

The measure to extend funding through Feb. 18 does not include any of the changes championed by physicians.
