End to End Business Performance Reappraisal: Aug. 14, 8AM-Noon

This workshop will discuss the benefits of conducting a full “end-to-end” performance reappraisal. The recommendation will be that such a reappraisal is a management best practice and should be conducted either every two to three years or when there are significant drivers to change impacting the business, where the “business” is the business of diagnostic imaging.

While this workshop will not address the art of imaging the patient nor will it touch the diagnostic reporting process, all other aspects of running the department will be assessed during the workshop.

The workshop will commence with a brief overview of the drivers impacting the diagnostic imaging department’s business performance at the mid-point of 2011 and then focus on the three objectives of helping the department become:
  • a low cost, highly efficient operation generating positive cash flows;
  • the imaging partner of choice for the referrer community that it serves; and
  • achieving recognition as providing an exceptional patient experience.

The presenter will work through an approach driven by quality circles to create a new model for diagnostic imaging that all staff can visualize. A new approach to mission and vision statements will be discussed followed by a deep dive into the business cycle step-by-step, providing delegates with a new approach to all aspects of the imaging business, including:
  • Strategy development, business planning and ‘go-to-market’ strategy;
  • Organization and process re-engineering to maximize efficiency and save costs;
  • Investment decision support and maximizing return on investments in technology; and
  • Managing the department using management accounts and financial dashboards.

The impact of each segment upon the patient experience will be discussed.

The workshop will be run as an interactive workshop with participants encouraged to share real problems that they are wrestling with and that can then be integrated into the application of the new concepts and tools that will be presented.

Speaker:
  • David J. Waldron, Traction Business Development, Fallston, Md.
