Medical association releases consensus statement on intra-coronary imaging

The European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI) has published a clinical guidance statement regarding the use of intra-coronary imaging (IC), sharing the document during its EuroPCR Annual Meeting, May 21-24 in Paris.

“Technological advances, with the development of new modalities and improvements in the software to facilitate ‘real-time’ analysis and decision making, have seen an increased use for both diagnostic assessment and the guidance of percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI),” according to the document. “However, significant regional and institutional differences in the use of IC imaging have been observed.”

The statement, which consists of two documents, details the clinical utility of IC imaging based on current clinical evidence and contemporary best practices.

The first document outlines IC imaging for PCI guidance and its importance for understanding stent failure. The second document dives into the role of IC imaging in clarifying uncertain findings during angiography.

The document outlines 10 highly clinical consensus guidelines. Read them in full here.
