GE announces first Canadian install of Centricity PACS SE System
GE Healthcare has inked a six-year Centricity PACS SE contract with Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada. The 121-bed hospital is the first site outside of the United States to install the PACS SE system, GE said.
Norfolk General Hospital made the decision to invest in PACS as a result of recent expansion and an overall increase in the volume of diagnostic images. The site will install six dedicated PACS workstations through the facility, with paper scanning and Centricity Digital Hard Copy for CD burning, to achieve the organization's goal of establishing a paperless and filmless work environment.
Key features of the Centricity PACS SE includes are the core functionalities of GE's Centricity PACS Enterprise Edition. However, the system is scaled for the needs of community hospitals and imaging centers. The system is also designed to be a fully integrated turn-key PACS system, based on the Centricity platform.
The installation and implementation process is part of GE's 'faster to filmless' approach and therefore the system's software, hardware, and assembly are completed before it is shipped, GE said.
