Toshiba installs new 64-row CT detector technology at CIS
Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. has installed its 64-slice Aquilion 64 CFX cardiac CT scanner at the Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) in Louisiana, one of the largest heart centers for nonsurgical and surgical treatment of both heart and vascular disease in the U.S. with a group of more than 30 cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons representing all specialties in heart and circulatory medicine, Toshiba said.
The Aquilon 64 CFX is built on the same platform as the Aquilion 32 CFX, and utilizes Toshiba's 64-row Quantum detector that enables the Aquilion scanner to gather 64 simultaneous slices of 0.5 mm with each 400-millisecond gantry revolution. The technology provides a precise isotropic imaging of the heart, or any region of the body, during a breath-hold under 10 seconds, Toshiba said.
