FDA gives the OK to Siemens' linear accelerator

Siemens Medical Solutions USA Inc. has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Oncor Avant-Garde linear accelerator.

Oncor integrates with technologies, such as the Optifocus MLC, a full-field, high-resolution multileaf collimator, and the Optivue amorphous silicon, flat-panel imaging system. The system also incorporates Siemens' Optibeam IMRT, an optimized technique for intensity modulated radiation therapy delivery that uses verification to safely provide treatments with speed and accuracy.
