GE touts 12% growth in ultrasound business
GE Healthcare announced this week that its Ultrasound business' revenues grew by more than 12 percent in 2004, marking the company's 10th consecutive year of double-digit growth in ultrasound.
In 2004, GE said it expanded its "volume ultrasound" line with new 4D imaging technologies for radiology, cardiology and obstetrics/gynecology. GE's volume Ultrasound systems (Logiq 9, Vivid 7 Dimension and Voluson 730) were the catalysts for overall market growth, as well as share gain in each respective care area, according to Omar Ishrak, president and CEO, GE Healthcare Clinical Systems.
In addition, GE said its compact ultrasound products introduced in 2004 (Vivid i and Logiq Book XP) are now benefiting traditional ultrasound users in cardiology and general imaging, in addition to expanding into new departments such as the OR and ER.
GE's Ultrasound business currently includes 12 Ultrasound R&D centers and 1,500 customer account managers and service engineers worldwide.
