RSNA seeks to improve health equity with launch of new program
On July 7 the Radiological Society of North America announced a new multi-event program focused on improving health equity, access and patient care.
The “Building Connections Across the Americas: Addressing Access to Radiology” program will center on developing partnerships to advance health equity initiatives across South, Central and North America. It will include collaborative input from an array of health industry professionals, including radiologists, physicists, diplomats, educators and administrators, with the goal of addressing the unique access and equity barriers each region faces.
“This program exemplifies RSNA’s position as an organization that fosters cooperation among Latin American radiological societies, contributing to increasing the research, teaching and understanding of how new technologies will impact our practice and the way we take care of our patients,” said Guillermo Elizondo-Riojas, MD, PhD, chair of the RSNA Committee on International Radiology Education (CIRE).
The first of three events included in the program is set to take place at the RSNA 108th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting in Chicago on November 30.
The second event will be held at RSNA’s Global Learning Center (GLC) site at Hospital Metropolitano in Quito, Ecuador. It will be directed towards radiology department chairs and hospital administrators.
The third event will take place in São Paulo, Brazil in 2023.
“During times when connectivity and collaborative partnerships are more important than ever for the practice of radiology, RSNA is taking this opportunity to build long lasting and solid bridges between institutions, industry and radiologists across the Americas,” said Juliana Bueno, MD, chair of the GLC subcommittee of CIRE. “This program is an excellent opportunity for radiologists around the world to learn about the efforts our organization has in place to build connections and bring resources closer to where they are needed.”
