Siemens installs cache of IT systems in Ohio health system
MedCentral Health System, a multi-entity health system in Mansfield, Ohio, has implemented Siemens Medical Solutions' Soarian, the company's new generation health information system.
MedCentral implemented Soarian Clinical Access and Common Clinicals, as well as Siemens ancillary systems including Novius Lab, Novius Radiology, Siemens Pharmacy and Siemens OPENLink simultaneously across the enterprise. More than 250 MedCentral physicians and 1,500 clinicians will have access to the systems, including remote access to Soarian where indicated.
Clinical workflow enhancements that MedCentral is experiencing as a result of Soarian include improved clinical documentation and reduced administrative paperwork and redundant documentation. In addition, MedCentral installed a wireless network utilizing tablet PCs and wireless carts.
MedCentral's future plans include implementing additional Soarian components and Siemens Med Administration Check application, which uses bar code technology to alert nurses to potential medication administration errors.
