IDC study: EMC continues to dominate storage market

EMC Corp. extended its worldwide storage software lead again in the second quarter of 2004 to 32.5 percent revenue share, according to a new report released today by IDC.

According to IDC's estimates for the second quarter, EMC storage software revenue grew 30.5 percent, gaining 3.4 points of share. EMC also grew its revenue share in the storage replication and storage resource management functional markets, to 43.1 percent and 56.2 percent share, respectively. In the backup and archive functional market, EMC gained revenue share in the most recent quarter to rank third overall.

During the first half of 2004, EMC also gained revenue share in the total storage software market, growing revenue 31.7 percent, to lead with 31.2 percent share.
