Orthocrat's TraumaCad FDA approved, finds a new PACS companion
FDA approval for Orthocrat Ltd.'s TraumaCad digital orthopedic planning software allows the company to start selling the operating room (OR) software in the United States.

TraumaCad enables surgeons to utilize digital images, tools and templates for the planning of a full range of orthopedic surgeries. Displaying PACS images in the OR, TraumaCad turns any PC into a full-featured diagnostic workstation. It is compatible with CR, DR, CT, MRI modalities. It also enables preoperative plans to be archived with patient files and viewed in the operating room.

The planning software features a complete set of implants and fixation element templates. The system automatically displays implants to scale with patient anatomical images. TraumaCad also streamlines implant inventory and ordering and helps avoid re-sterilization of improper kits brought into the OR, Orthocrat said.

In related news, Orthocrat said it will begin integrating the TraumaCAD software with Dynamic Imaging web-based PACS.

Dynamic Imaging said it will offer Orthocrat's TraumaCad software as part of IntegradWeb's OrthoTools package to meet the specific needs of orthopedic surgeons.

The first implementation will take place at New York's Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH), the companies said.
