Meda introduces RAID Shuttle Storage
Medéa Corp. debuted its new RAID Shuttle system at the 2004 International Telemetering Conference (ITC) October 19-21, in San Diego. Medéa also showcased its XStream and VideoRAID FCR2X disk arrays.
Medéa's RAID Shuttle is a small, high performance disk storage array that offers 1.6 TeraByte (TB) of storage on removable disk drives. It is contained in a shockproof compact enclosure that protects data in harsh environments, said Medéa.
The system's Fibre Channel interface provides high data transfer rates of up to 200 MB/second, and sustained data transfer rates of 180 MB/second. Using standard CPU software, the Medéa RAID Shuttle is compatible with all standard Fibre Channel/SCSI software and is also interoperable with all major host adapters from leading manufacturers like QLogic, ATTO and Emulex.
The Medéa XStream is a scalable storage system designed for near-line applications. Users can start with a 1TB system and then scale to over 4TB in a single 3U rack by adding additional disk drive modules, said Medéa. XStream disk arrays can also be daisy-chained or SAN attached for installations requiring storage in the hundreds of TBs. The Medéa XStream provides a data transfer rate of over 170 MB/second.
The Medéa VideoRaid FCR2X disk array features single or dual-channel 2-Gbit Fibre Channel interface. The VideoRaid FCR2X is available in 5- and 10-drive, 3U rack mountable configurations with capacities up to 3.2TB. FCR2X is compatible with both MAC and Windows-based platforms.
