Former Given Imaging Inc. president to run Mazor Surgical Technologies U.S. subsidiary

Mazor Surgical Technologies, whose flagship product, SpineAssist, is based on miniature robotic technology and is used for minimal invasive spine surgery, has appointed Nancy Sousa as COO of its U.S. subsidiary as of Feb. 1. Prior to joining Mazor, Sousa served as corporate vice president and president of Given Imaging Inc., the U.S. operation of Given Imaging Ltd. Sousa led Given’s financial growth from $16 million to $65 million in three years. Sousa brings executive experience such as strategy, business development, marketing and sales to Mazor Surgical Technologies. Upon joining the Mazor Surgical Technologies executive team, Sousa will assume responsibility for the company’s U.S.-based operations. To accomplish this goal, Mazor Surgical plans to establish its U.S. headquarters in the Atlanta metro area and expand its sales, marketing and technical operations.
