Hx Technologies taps David Kates as new COO
Health information exchange provider Hx Technologies has named David Kates as chief operating officer. Kates is leading HxTI’s transition into full scale commercialization and deployment of its health information exchange products and services, the company said.
Kates is a veteran in the area of healthcare information technology, with more than 25 years of industry experience. Kates joins HxTI after six years as vice president of WebMD (now Emdeon) Practice Services. At WebMC, he guided the company’s transition from a physician’s office administrative and billing systems developer to a full service electronic health records vendor. Prior to joining WebMD, Kates was VP of Ambulatory Care Systems at Cerner Corporation. Kates also brings experience in systems integration consulting and medical device development at IBM, Accenture, and Hewlett-Packard Medical Products.
