San Diego-based medical billing and practice management software system provider CPU has added five new customers to its MED/FM client base during the second quarter of 2006. CPU inked deals for its web-enabled practice management system, Web MED/FM, with Emergency Medical Management Associates of Pomona, Calif.; Medical Billing Management of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Medical Management Services Associates Inc. of Harrisburg, Pa.; Physicians Lifeline Inc. of Temecula, Calif.; and Diversified Revenue Specialists LLC. of Canton, Ohio.


GE Healthcare announced that Tulane University School of Medicine plans to install the Centricity Business Advantage, a fully outsourced revenue cycle management service.


IMPAC Medical Systems Inc. announced that The West Clinic in Memphis, Tenn., is now live with the automated transmittal of patient entered self-assessment data items via the Supportive Oncology Solution (SOS) Patient Care Monitor (TM) (PCM) to the IMPAC electronic medical record (EMR).


Also, IMPAC announced that since May 2006, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center has been in clinical use with IMPAC's treatment management solution to manage delivery and chart radiation therapy treatments at its new proton therapy center.


Misys Healthcare Systems announced the adoption of Misys EMR at over 65 contracts nationwide since Misys EMR 8.0 became available in May. Recent sales include:
  • Wake Heart Associates of N.C., the largest cardiology practice in eastern North Carolina;
  • Sea-Mar Community Health of Seattle, Wash., one of the largest providers of health and human services in the country; and
  • Tidewater Physical Therapy in Virginia and North Carolina.

A cancer center in Malaysia has begun offering patients radiotherapy treatments using a new Trilogy linear accelerator from Varian Medical Systems. The NCI Cancer Hospital in Nilai, south of Kuala Lumpur, has launched treatment programs offering the latest in high-precision radiotherapy techniques, including intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery.
