Agfa HealthCare announced Wednesday that the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Medical Center has chosen IMPAX RIS. The facility already has installed the company’s PACS, Orthopedics, Women’s Care, Computed Radiography and TalkStation Speech Recognition. Agfa claims that this makes UCSD the largest integrated RIS/PACS/speech implementation to date in the United States. The contract also includes a comprehensive long-term service agreement. UCSD School of Medicine, one of the nation's top-ranked academic institutions, is dedicated to medical research, education and healthcare services.
Optio Software Inc. announced that Gooding County Memorial Hospital has chosen Optio's integrated EHR to automate and streamline document-intensive healthcare processes and reduce the costs of printed forms. Gooding Hospital is a 14-bed critical access healthcare facility that provides quality care to those in need within Idaho's Gooding County and surrounding areas.
Premiere Imaging Solutions (Premiere)—an applications service provider (ASP) for DMP Imaging, a multi-site imaging chain with offices throughout Oklahoma and Arkansas—has selected RIS Concepts Inc. to provide its web-based system for full digital workflow and integrated communications among multiple imaging locations.
Cancer patients in Western Australia will receive radiotherapy treatments using equipment from Varian Medical Systems with the opening of a new cancer center in Perth. Stereotactic radiosurgery for pancreatic cancer patients and an advanced program of IMRT (intensity modulated radiotherapy) are among the new treatments being introduced at the new Sir Charles Gairdner Centre. The new facility, the only public radiotherapy department in Western Australia serving 2.1 million people in an area the size of Europe, has been equipped with two Varian Clinac iX linear accelerators and a Trilogy machine, a radiotherapy treatment device.
Providence Alaska Medical Center, Alaska’s largest hospital, announced it has recently completed installation of the z.one ultrasound system, the Convertible Ultrasound platform from ZONARE Medical Systems. The system is based on new Zone Sonography technology which allows the system to convert from a full-featured, cart-based system to a compact unit which can easily be carried to the patient’s bedside.
