Contracts: Agfa, EMC, IBM, Optio
Agfa HealthCare announced today that it has been chosen to provide St.-Jozef Hospital, a medium-sized healthcare provider in Izegem, Belgium, with its ORBIS hospital and clinical information system, which manages the entire patient flow through all hospital departments. After the implementation is completed in 2008, the authorized users of St.-Jozef’s departments will be able to access a single electronic patient record, connect to medical patient data and report on data from wherever they are in the organization, or the world. The hospital’s medical archives also are scheduled to be included in ORBIS, with future integration planned for anesthetics, patient administration, invoicing and laboratory data.
EMC Corporation announced that Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Virginia deployed its CLARiiON CX3 storage systems as well as NetWorker and SnapView backup software to provide the capacity and performance needed for its core clinical and financial systems. Rockingham Memorial recently chose the MEDITECH Client Server Platform for its core clinical applications including admitting, clinical care, radiology, pharmacy, billing and scanning and archiving. The hospital purchased a CLARiiON CX3-40 system based on the EMC-developed CLARiiON UltraScale architecture for the storage area network dedicated to its MEDITECH system. Additionally, the hospital purchased a CLARiiON CX3-80 system to use in conjunction with their existing CLARiiON CX700 for disaster recovery and business continuity. To support this initiative, Rockingham Memorial recently replaced Symantec with EMC NetWorker backup and recovery software and also purchased EMC SnapView software to create local point-in-time copies of data that can be used for testing, backup, and recovery operations.
Childrens Hospital Los Angeles has signed a five-year, $13 million contract with IBM to manage and support the hospital’s financial, human resources, materials management and grants-tracking systems. IBM will provide outsourcing services for the hospital's PeopleSoft applications that manage medical supplies, inventory, general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing, budgetary controls, asset management, payroll and benefits. The agreement, which includes all infrastructure, network, application and help desk support responsibilities, will allow the hospital’s own developers to focus on other high-priority hospital development initiatives, such as tying the clinical materials management system into the hospital’s financial systems.
Optio Healthcare announced that Lompoc Hospital, a 60-bed, rural California facility has selected its subscription-based, electronic health record (EHR), document archive and imaging system to improve the quality of patient care by accelerating the timely exchange of healthcare information. With Optio's multi-level EHR, everything that happens during a patient's visit will be recorded electronically.
