GE Healthcare announced the first Canadian install of its new PET/CT technology at Saint John Regional Hospital, in Saint John, New Brunswick. The Discovery STE is a fusion of GE’s computed tomography (CT) scanner with the metabolic and physiologic capabilities of its positron emission tomography (PET) scanner.
McKesson announced the implementation of Horizon Real-Time Location System, the company’s new radio frequency identification (RFID) solution, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC. Spartanburg is using the RFID solution to wirelessly track and electronically record the location history of 550 intravenous infusion pumps throughout its facility.
Medical Information Technology (MEDITECH) announced that Norman Regional Health System in Oklahoma has chosen MEDITECH to supply a new information technology system, including clinical and financial applications, as well as integration and workflow solutions. Norman Regional is currently comprised of a 337-bed specialty hospital, with a second 125-bed facility opening in first quarter 2009. The new specialty hospital will include services for women and children, cardiac care, and orthopedics/neurosurgery.
Royal Philips Electronics has announced that Agencia Valenciana de la Salut, a member of the healthcare council in Spain’s Valencia region, has chosen SpeechMagic to optimize its radiology information system with speech recognition. This is the fourth region-wide success for Philips’ industrial grade speech recognition technology SpeechMagic within the last six months, following similar projects in France, Norway and Spain’s Castilla La Mancha region.
Orthocrat, a developer of digital templating and pre-operative software solutions for orthopedic surgeons, netted another United Kingdom with its 15th hospital group installation in the country. HCA (Hospital Corporation of America Group–London) will install the company’s TraumaCad software across its facilities which include: Wellington Hospital, Portland Hospital, Princess Grace Hospital, London Bridge Hospital, Harley Street Clinic, and Lister Hospital–Chelsea Bridge.
