Contracts: Allscripts, Eckert & Ziegler, Elekta, MedLink, RADinfo Systems

Allscripts announced that Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic P.A. has selected its HealthMatics Office, an integrated Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management System (PM). The system will automate clinical and financial operations for the multi-specialty group's 24 physicians. Amarillo, Texas-based Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic is a comprehensive outpatient diagnostic clinic, includes three offices and a new ambulatory surgery center. The clinic combines multi-specialty care with diagnostic capabilities.


The Venezuelan Health Ministry has ordered additional cancer radiation systems from Berlin-based Eckert & Ziegler AG to supply six more of the country's clinics with the company’s MultiSource tumor radiation systems. Last year the Venezuela government
ordered tumor radiation systems worth several million dollars from the company medical equipment specialist last year, via the latter's distribution partners Philips and Servicios Radioma. The new order is reported to be worth nearly $1.6 million.


The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Presbyterian (UPMC) in Pittsburgh, will purchase Elekta's Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion from, an advanced system for non-invasive radiosurgery of brain disorders. UPMC will be one of the first medical centers in the country to install this new system in the early spring. UPMC, one of the leading radiosurgery centers in the world, was the first site in the U.S. to incorporate Gamma Knife radiosurgery into its neurosurgery program in 1987. Today, more than 8,000 patients with different types of brain disorders have been treated with Gamma Knife surgery at UPMC.


MedLink International has entered into an electronic health services agreement with Doshi Diagnostic Imaging Services of New Jersey. Under the terms of the agreement, Doshi will utilize the MedLink VPN to deliver radiology reports and related DICOM images from its six radiology centers in the state of New Jersey to its more than 5,000 referring physician offices. The referring physicians will utilize the MedLink EHR to view current and past reports on their patients enabling them to generate a more accurate electronic health record of their patients.


RADinfo System netted a multi-million dollar contract with Commonwealth Orthopaedics headquartered in Fairfax, Va., to provide installations to all nine office locations across northern Virginia. Under this agreement, RADinfo SYSTEMS will be installing its PowerPACS for Orthopedic solutions in Commonwealth's entire network. The PowerPACS for Orthopedics solutions was initially installed in three offices during 2005.
