Medrad highlights Avanta, Vanguard systems
Medrad at ACC 2007 in New Orleans showcased its Avanta Fluid Management Injection System built for multiple cardiac imaging applications; coronary, ventriculograms and aortograms, and more. This single system is intended to inject contrast in variable mode at low flow rates and low pressures for coronary and small vessels, fixed mode at high flow rates and high pressure injections for larger vessels and peripherals, and fixed mode for saline flushing. Avanta can work in conjunction with the company’s Vanguard Dx Angiographic Catheters as a fluid management system for cardiac specialists in virtually all cardiac imaging procedures.
Vanguard catheters have a patented RadiantFlow tip for improved contrast delivery. Instead of the thin stream associated with traditional catheters, the RadiantFlow tip produces a "cloud" of contrast that has the potential to enhance mixing and distribution, reduce catheter whipping, and enhance tip stability during injections.
Vanguard Dx catheters is available in the 15 most common catheter shapes and in two sizes; 4FR and 5FR. A smaller size catheter has been shown in research to lead to earlier post-procedural mobilization and reduced discomfort and bruising when compared to 6FR catheters. Additionally, research shows that the 4FR catheter size may minimize the need for wound closure devices.
