Microsoft Amalga continues Philips SR integration

Microsoft reported that its licensing deal with Philips Speech Recognition Systems to integrate the firm's speech recognition technology in its Amalga health software is unaffected by the sale of the Philips business unit to Nuance.

SpeechMagic was chosen as the preferred speech recognition technology for Microsoft Amalga Hospital Information System (HIS) and Amalga RIS and PACS this September. Nuance acquired the Philips unit for approximately $100 million in cash in the beginning of October.

Microsoft said it did expect any changes to the agreement based on the acquisition of Philips Speech Recognition Systems by Nuance.
