Agfa deploys Orbis at Italian sites
Agfa HealthCare reported that it has successfully installed its Orbis hospital information system (HIS) at its Italian reference site, the Ospedale di Lecco hospital group. The system is now live at one of the three hospital facilities of the group, the Manzoni Hospital (Ospedale Manzoni di Lecco), accounting for 681 beds of the 1,019 total beds of the hospital group.
The first installation phase at the hospital, which began in March and has now successfully been brought to conclusion, was focused on inpatient and day-hospital management, according to Agfa.
In related news, the firm said it is preparing for an official trial project at the Vincenzo Cervello hospital in Palermo, expected to go live at the end of November 2007. The project is sponsored by the Regional Health Minister of Sicily, Roberto Lagalla, Agfa said.
The trial provides the Cervello hospital the capability to test Orbis and its integration of existing information systems at the departmental and enterprise level. The 433-bed Vincenzo Cervello hospital will introduce the Orbis Ward Graphic and Medical Documentation modules, as well as specific OE/RR connections in the chest surgery department as part of the pilot project.
