IntraOp nets first Latin American Mobetron install
The Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia, in Bogota, Colombia, has ordered a Mobetron from IntraOp Medical, which marks the first installation of the mobile intraoperative electron-beam radiation therapy (IOERT) device in Latin America, as well as the first OR-ready radiation device in South America.
The company’s Mobetron applies a direct application of intraoperative IOERT to a tumor during cancer surgery, according to IntraOp.
Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia is a public institution with more than 70 years of experience with many diverse oncological diseases. Since the Mobetron is a mobile, self-shielding device, the hospital can move the Mobetron between operating rooms with ease, avoiding the high cost of outfitting radiation rooms to accommodate traditional devices, the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based IntraOp said.
