Elekta fills first New Zealand linear accelerator order
Auckland Radiation Oncology (ARO) in Auckland, New Zealand, has purchased an Elekta Synergy system with Mosaiq EMR and Elekta volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for delivery in April.
ARO will be the first site in New Zealand to utilize Elekta Synergy, which will be also capable of performing VMAT, according to the Stockholm, Sweden-based company.
Elekta said its cancer treatment technology improves on intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) by controlling the position and speed of the linear accelerator gantry, the multileaf collimator and the dose rate, enabling conformal radiation doses to the target site.
ARO, a private radiotherapy center, is a joint venture between MercyAscot and Southern Cross Hospitals, both located in Auckland.
