AMICAS spotlights automation solutions

AMICAS highlighted its complete suite of automation solutions for radiology businesses and departments at the 2008 Society for Imaging Informatics in medicine (SIIM) annual meeting last month in Seattle.

The complete AMICAS automation suite includes an integrated, yet modular, RIS, PACS, teleradiology, document management and revenue cycle management platform for radiology groups and practices of all sizes as well as other ambulatory imaging businesses and hospitals, the company said.

The company demonstrated the capabilities of its Vision Series PACS, a completely web-based PACS that offers personalized workflow via the company’s RealTime Worklist technology, which provides a customizable paperless patient routing and internal communication system. Vision Series RIS, an ambulatory RIS solution offering robust scheduling, charge capture and workflow capabilities was also displayed.

The company featured its new Vision Reach zero-install product, which uses common email and secure messaging to deliver images, reports, and information to any email-enabled device via a secure web-based portal. Vision Reach also provides referring physicians with the ability to request orders for new studies via a new order entry module, AMICAS said.

The developer’s RadStream product, which automates and documents critical results communications as well as prioritizes imaging exams based on a "most likely to interrupt" method, was also showcased.

AMICAS also highlighted its Vision Series Financials, which offers Microsoft Windows-based technology to automate the identification and management of denials and follow-up workflows. The latest iteration of the product combines a recently revamped architecture with functionality to streamline techniques for advanced revenue cycle management.

In addition, the company displayed its Insight Dashboards, a web-based business intelligence platform that provides access to customized, near real time data for key performance metrics and indicators, including both clinical and operational factors.
